Suzuki at Mountain Home means two things: KingQuads for people who work and hunt, and a spread of motorcycles from the DR650S to the GSX-8R. Our live page leans on the brand's history, calling Suzuki "the inventor of the 4-wheel ATV." The KingQuad line is where that history shows.
Which KingQuad for elk camp above Pine?
Three sizes cover it. The KingQuad 400ASi uses a 376 cc four-stroke and suits a lighter rider or a second machine for camp chores. The 500AXi steps up to 493 cc, and the 750AXi runs a 722 cc liquid-cooled single with a CVT and shaft drive. We stock the 500 and 750 with power steering, and you want it on either one once you are dragging a quarter up out of a draw.
The timber toward Featherville and Pine rewards a narrow quad that can pick through downfall where a side-by-side cannot fit, and a KingQuad fits.
DR650S or DR-Z4S for the road to Anderson Ranch?
Dual-sport buyers at this store weigh these two against each other. The DR650S runs a 644 cc air- and oil-cooled single fed by a carburetor, with about 43 hp. Riders like it because a trailside fix needs basic tools. Our dealer page calls it "the best all-around, dual-purpose motorcycle available today."
The DR-Z4S is newer. Suzuki gave it a 398 cc liquid-cooled single with fuel injection, a slipper clutch and a 21-inch front wheel, at a claimed 333 lb. It weighs less and feels sharper on the gravel past the dam toward Fairfield. The DR-Z4SM takes the same motor and puts it on 17-inch wheels for pavement. For pure dirt, the RM-Z450 is Suzuki's motocross bike.
What about a Suzuki for the highway?
The V-Strom 800DE, GSX-8S and GSX-8R all share a 776 cc parallel twin with a 270-degree crank. The V-Strom rides on a 21-inch spoked front wheel and goes where the pavement ends. The GSX-8S is the upright street bike; the GSX-8R adds a fairing for the run up I-84 to Boise.
If your weekends involve Camas Prairie gravel, the V-Strom makes sense; a rider who stays on asphalt will enjoy a GSX more.
